Monday, August 1, 2011

This is possible to save electricity while using your computer. It can be done through keeping your PC in the stand-by mode. Stand-by is such a mode of windows, in which the PC remains opened using the lowest amount of electricity. In the Stand-by mode RAM, Hard disk, Monitor etc. do not use electricity. As a result, wastage of electricity is prevented. To set the Stand-by mode you have to click first on the Start option then Turn off computer and at last on Stand-by option. While in the PC is in the Stand-by mode you can bring it back to the Normal mode by moving the mouse or by pressing on any key of the key-board. You can also save electricity by setting time limit. To do this, at the first stage go to the Start option then to Run option and if you write down desk.cpl on the box then Display Properties dialogue box will appear. Now click on the Power option of Screen Saver Tab on the Display Properties.  Now the Power Options Properties dialogue box will appear. Go to the Power Schemes-Gi Setting for Home/ Office Desk Power scheme. Then set the time from the Drop-down list just beside the Turn off monitor option. You can use the Turn off monitor option as an alternative option of Screen Saver. It will keep the monitor safe and the electricity will be saved. By this way you can also set the time for Turn off Hard disks and System Standby. Beside the Power Options properties dialogue box Click on the Advanced Tab. Now, select the Shut Down option from the Drop Down list, under the “When I press the sleep button on my computer”. At this time you will found that if you press on the Power button then the PC will Shut Down and if you press on the Sleep button of key board then the PC will Stand By.
